Leisurely Lunch

We are back in Doué la Fontaine, not to visit the Bioparc again, but to try one of the restaurants we spotted on our last trip: Le Dagobert.  It is a large hotel/restaurant.

Very elegant and the server was wearing a white shirt, black vest and black trousers.  His assistant was dressed all in white and she made sure we had a steady supply of bread, removed all the used dishes, and attended to our every need.

The dishes have such a pretty pattern.  The green pitcher is our demi pichet de rosé.  The Loire has world-renown wines, the rosés in particular.

We only ordered two courses: the entrée and the plat principal.  We both ordered the same meal so it will be easy to describe.

The entrée was gravlax with radishes, red onions, and a gently poached egg.  On the side, an avocado purée and a parmesan cracker.  Basil for colour.

Our meal was the most tender pork tenderloin ever!  It came in a rich onion sauce.  The sides had no less than four types of potatoes: boiled, roasted, shoestring and fries.  There was also a helping of mushrooms, stuffed bock choy, puréed peas, and a tomato stuffed with an olive tapenade.

Delicious!

The grand crème came with a macaron and a mini-brownie.

Karl ate the macaron because there were hazelnuts in it, and I was more than happy with the brownie.

You would have loved the feel of this cup!  It is perfectly balanced and has just the right space for small or big fingers.  The saucer is large enough to add a small bite of something, but is just as elegant supporting only a spoon.  We thought it a work of art.

We shopped around afterwards to see if we could find something similar, but this is obviously made specifically for the restaurant.  A signature cup.
