Mon homme

Karl was beginning to look a little scruffy, resembling too closely that "Petit Prince" we met a few weeks ago...  Time to find a "salon de coiffure".  Coiffure Eden in Neuil les Aubiers was the choice, at the expert hands of Stanislas.

Even those expert hands could not "add a little at the top"...

I've been cutting Karl's hair for almost 41 years, and never have I trimmed his moustache.  This was a real treat!  Took all the bushiness away.

We celebrated with a wonderful lunch at "Le Moulin de la Sorinière", just outside of Neuil les Aubiers.  The wine was a Canto Perdrix by Tavel, a more complex rosé.

Our salad was composed of finely chopped lettuce, cucumbers, tiny little cauliflower bits, red peppers, slices of duck breast, and thin apple slices on the edges.

The baguette slices are "de rigueur"; a must.

My main dish was chicken which must have been marinated in yogurt before cooking since it was so very tender.  Excellent spices in the sauce, perhaps a taste of the chef's Madagascar roots.  Three servings of veggies: zucchini, parsnips, and carrots.

Karl had the steak instead of the chicken, and he said it was very tender and delicious.

The dessert was a slice of pie on shortbread crust, bananas in a vanilla custard (blanc-mange), topped with a chocolate custard.  So easy to gobble this up quickly...

Karl does not use sugar in his coffee, but he wanted to try this little wooden "pince" for the photo.

The cream was thick and hot.

I got to eat the little cake, much like a Madeleine, but round instead of oval.

Looking mighty fine, mon homme!

  1. Chers Marguerite & Karl, so enjoying your travels, pictures, photos, the history and insights that you are posting on your blog. Almost as good as being there, however, not quite, as the food events sound so very good that being there, would of course, be better. Continue to enjoy this year's sejour in Frances, and thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Bravo! :-)
